How To: Apply LipSense®

A new video of how to properly apply LipSense® was just released and I wanted to make sure to share this video along with some other tips to make sure you get the best wear out of your lipstick!

Steps to Properly Apply

  • Clean and dry lips thoroughly
  • Shake the bottle vigorously for 30 seconds
  • Take wand out and remove excess product from the wand tip
  • In one sweeping motion, apply 3 layers to your lips letting each layer dry for 5-10 seconds (sometimes longer)
  • Apply gloss of choice to seal in your color

Tips and Tricks for Best Wear

Do NOT leave your tubes in your car. LipSense® contains small amounts of cosmetic grade alcohol that, when heated, will evaporate and expand your tube of LipSense®. This not only causes deformation of the tubes, but also alters the formula which may not apply the same. The product is also altered when frozen, so be sure to take your purse with you when you are out shopping!

Apply gloss throughout the day. The LipSense® system is meant to work with the gloss to act as a moisturizer and to prolong your lip color. You should apply before eating and any time your lips may feel dry.

Do NOT use with any other wax based products. This means others lip balms and moisturizers. The wax can affect your wear time by leaving a film on your lips. You can try our Moisturizing Lip Balm (also available in two tinted colors) for times when you are wanting moisture, but do not want to wear lip color or gloss.

Tingling may occur during application. This is due to the exfoliation process your lips go through when switching to LipSense®. It could also be due to dry/cracked/chapped lips. With regular use this feeling will go away.

First time users may experience flaking in their first few weeks of use. This is natural exfoliation and will go away. For some, the process takes a few days and others it may be a few weeks. This is also why it is important to abstain from using other wax based products.

Make it your own! Try layering different colors during the application process for a unique look that is all your own. Changing up your gloss can also alter the appearance of your lip color for an easy alternative color. Ready to be a mad scientist? Premixing your lip colors prior to application is another great way to make your own color! Challenge yourself by creating beautiful ombre looks!
